For more than 36 years, I’ve hosted a folk music show, “The Hudson River Sampler,” on WAMC-FM/Northeast Public Radio (www.wamc.org), a major National Public Radio affiliate headquartered in Albany, New York. Prior to that, I hosted a folk music show for four years at WCUW-FM, a small community radio station located in Worcester, Massachusetts.
I recently received word from the Folk Alliance International that I will be inducted into the Folk D-J Hall of Fame during the annual meeting, to be held in Montreal in mid-February 2019. This meeting normally attracts more than 2,500 people and can often accommodate up to 3,000. It’s a “who’s who” of folk music from many countries around the world.
I am humbled and honored beyond belief. Here’s a link to a story that appeared in the Daily Gazette of Schenectady: https://dailygazette.com/article/2018/11/30/fischer-ochs-earn-folk-music-honors
My good friend Sonny Ochs will also receive a “Spirit of Folk” award at the same ceremony.
